Does a Classic Clay Court need to be watered? No!
watering a Classic Clay Court is a great advantage, although not necessary. Naturally, you will find that the surface becomes a darker colour. When watered, the balls however remain reasonably dry with a consistent, perfect ball bounce, unlike normal clay, where the mineral infill will turn to mud over time. likewise, when dry, normal clay will become concrete like, causing irregular ball bounce.
How much maintenance is required for a Classic Clay Court?
Daily maintenance is recommended by bagging the surface of the court. It should take approximately 7-10 minutes. It is recommended once each week to sweep the sides of the court into small mounds and cast into the main play area, then bag.
Is Bagging required between sets?
Bagging the courts between sets is not necessary, however, it will give you a positive ball mark. Unlike normal clay, no indents occur in the court. However, bagging should take place after each match. This is considered good etiquette.
Does Classic Clay infill blow around in windy conditions? No.
Most of the infill is held within the clay court fabric and whilst the special infill is small, it does not contain dust. Therefore, only in extremely windy situations could surplus be caused to move. Whereas normal clay blows away and covers everything with red dust.
Do White Lines need to be cleaned of in-fill build-up? No!
Normal drag mat procedures are sufficient, however we supply a line groomer with every Classic Clay Court.
Does the mineral in-fill wash away? No!
The in-fill does not wash away as most of the infill is within the surface structure. However, during torrential rain conditions you might find a small
Does Classic Clay mineral in-fill fade over time?
If Grass Manufacturers maintenance and grooming procedures are adhered to, it is possible for the Classic Clay to remain rich in colour for many years. If these procedures are not followed, slight fading will occur.
Does Classic Clay compact with heavy use over time? No.
Classic Clay does not compact over time, as it is incorporated with specially selected rounded and movable mineral infills, (unlike normal clay, made up of crushed bricks which becomes muddy). This benefit also allows players back on the court quickly even after rain showers, it is an excellent recovery surface.
What bases are recommended for new constructions?
The following bases are all recommended for new constructions:
  •  Porous Concrete
  • Porous Asphalt (5-7mm)
  • Steel Trowelled concrete or woodfloat - Sealed Asphalt
  • Old Existing Courts, long term constructed and compacted clay surfaces (not in sub zero temperatures)
Is the Ball Bounce on a Classic Clay surface reliable?
Tennis champions have confirmed the ball bounce on a Classic Clay court is perfect for world-wide tennis. Classic Clay has also been tested by one of the world's leading sports laboratories in Australia. It has been tested, met all criteria and approved per guidelines by Tennis Australia and has been found to meet all required performance specifications. How long will Courts last?
Courts can be expected to last 10-15 years providing normal maintenance procedures are carried out.
Warranty?
Classic Clay has a 10 Year Warranty subject to the courts being used and maintained in a specified manner and the mineral infill maintained at the correct level. The warranty is explicit. If the Club or private owners do not maintain the courts in accordance with Grass Manufacturers procedures, the Warranty will then be made invalid. It is also conditional that the correct footwear be worn during play ie. No spiked shoes.
Is Classic Clay a suitable surface for Championship Events? Yes!

No joints are visible with Classic Clay courts, which have a consistent mineral infill spread over the surface.
